The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique ride and hiking experience which is enjoyed by everyone.
The Kerem Tunnel, the first bicycle tunnel in Israel is now open as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around the capital city.

נווה פריצקי The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The southern entrance of the tunnel is below Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance can be located in Nahal Ein Kerem.

The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was inaugurated at a formal ceremony held on Thursday that was attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin, Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov, and a slew of cyclists.

About NIS 25 million were put into in the project, financed by the Elkin's Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation and the Jerusalem Purification and Sewerage Works, as well as the work done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

Elkin said that "The Kerem Tunnel Project is a central tool to realize the goal to redefine the idea of transport in Jerusalem." The current works include road construction, installation of blowers as well as modern safety and electrical systems to ensure the tunnel is safe for pedestrians to travel through at all times of the year.

The Kerem Tunnel allows for access to exclusive recreation areas like Ein Kerem, a neighborhood which includes a Biblical aquarium and zoo and historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
