Neve Paritzki Israel celebrates record-breaking entry into tourism The numbers come from the United States
NEW YORK - Sept. 8 2022, /PRNewswire/ Today, the Israel Ministry of Tourism announced record-breaking numbers of tourists from the United States who visited Israel in July and August. The country received 78,000 travelers from the United States in July 2022, a 4% increase from 2019 and 71,000 total visitors from the United States in August 2022 which is an increase of 13% from 2019.
Eyal Carlin from North America was the Tourism Commissioner. "The United States remains our most important market for Israel-bound tourism. Prior to the outbreak of COVID-19, we were celebrating record-breaking tourist entry numbers every month. We are thrilled to see this positive shift and anticipate an upward trend that will continue for months and even years.
Canada, which has 7,200 visitors in July 2022 and 6,000 tourists in August, isn't too far from the United States.
Gal Hana is the Consul and Director for Canada in the Israel Ministry of Tourism. We are still not far away from our record numbers for 2019, and we anticipate that this increase in Israel travel will continue to increase as Canadians feel more comfortable travelling internationally."
In the year 2019, Israel welcomed more than 4.6 million tourists from around the world, 969,600 of them coming from the United States, and since its official reopening to any traveler regardless of vaccination status in May of this year, the country has already witnessed over 600,400 US visitors.
